understanding of other lifestyles and beliefs. My parents raised me to understand the diversity of religions and how they can help instill good moral character. I moved to Austin in 2004 in order to pursue my passion of fighting for a protectable right to education for all children. In 2006 I founded the School For All Children Act, an organization for which I have served as President for the past four years. Besides the School For All Children Act I have also donated my time as a volunteer for TFN. I am also an active member of the Austin Gray Panthers as well as the Coalition for Community Concerns. After living in Austin for awhile I, like so many others, began to love this city and knew it was where I wanted to live. I knew that Austin was where I wanted to start my family and my business. The longer I lived here the more I became concerned about and involved in the economic and social issues facing our city. As a result I ran for Mayor of Austin in 2009 and the State Board of Education in 2010. I understand the difficulty in getting a large, diverse population to agree on how to solve the issues and problems we face, but I know that if we work together we can find common ground to solve these issues. I am running for City Council Place 1 because I care about Austin and the issues we face. Together we can accomplish a more transparent and accountable local government to solve the challenges before us. |
